This portfolio highlights key projects I have contributed to through my roles with leading engineering consultancies and infrastructure firms. From system integration and requirements engineering to asset management and safety assurance, these projects demonstrate the depth of my experience in delivering practical, standards-compliant solutions within collaborative, multidisciplinary environments. Each engagement reflects my focus on quality, precision, and alignment with client and regulatory expectations.

Design Work Station
- Network Rail

Principal Systems Engineer

The Design Workstation (DWS) project at Park Signalling aims to replace a legacy platform used for preparing SSI interlocking data—an essential tool for signalling engineers across the UK. The legacy system had become outdated, lacked support for modern engineering workflows, and presented long-term maintainability and compliance risks. To address this, a modern, standards-aligned solution is being developed to serve the industry well into the future. As part of the core systems engineering team, I have been closely involved in shaping the definition and development of the new DWS. My focus is on authoring key system documentation—including the System Requirements Specification (SyRS), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and assurance plans—ensuring the solution aligns with industry standards such as EN 50126 and EN 50716. A significant part of my role involves defining how the system interprets and processes various SSI data structures (including .id, .dat, and .tag files), maintaining compatibility with legacy workflows while supporting more robust, maintainable engineering practices. I also contribute to interface specification, system behaviour definition, and verification planning, working alongside design and validation teams to deliver a tool that is not only future-ready but fit for operational deployment across the UK signalling network.

 Requirements Management
- HS2

Senior Requirements Engineer

High Speed 2 (HS2) is one of the most complex and high-profile infrastructure programmes in the UK, requiring robust systems engineering across a broad range of disciplines. Working on behalf of HS2 Ltd through my role at Atkins, I supported the verification and management of system-level requirements to ensure compliance with technical standards, contractual obligations, and integration across interfaces. My work focused on the Contracts Requirements Module and its relationship with the Transversal Requirements Module. Using IBM Rational DOORS, I assessed whether transversal requirements were adequately captured in the contractual requirements for each discipline. Where gaps were identified, I documented these and reported them to senior stakeholders to inform integration and compliance decisions. This ensured alignment across diverse engineering inputs and helped maintain consistency in system-level requirement baselines. In addition to technical assessment, I maintained detailed traceability, supported requirement change management, and contributed to producing documentation that enabled transparent verification and lifecycle tracking. The role demanded a strong understanding of system assurance, stakeholder alignment, and the ability to navigate complex requirements environments.

 Requirements Management    - East West Rail Alliance 

Requirements Engineer

East West Rail is a nationally significant programme to reconnect Oxford and Cambridge by rail, requiring stringent systems engineering and assurance across all disciplines. During GRIP Stages 5 (Detailed Design) and 6 (Construction, Test & Commission), I worked as part of the Systems and Requirements Assurance team, focusing on verifying that design and construction outputs satisfied previously defined system and subsystem requirements. My responsibilities included reviewing project deliverables to confirm compliance with allocated requirements and managing the traceability of verification evidence using IBM DOORS. I ensured that each requirement could be demonstrably linked to design artefacts, construction records, or test outcomes as appropriate. I also played a key role in managing changes to the requirements baseline—capturing impacts, supporting change control, and maintaining alignment across engineering disciplines. Through this role, I helped ensure that the project’s assurance framework remained intact and that all requirements were fulfilled in line with regulatory and operational expectations.

 ETCS Cyber security Technical Delivery Support        - Freightliner 

Project Manager

Freightliner’s ETCS Cybersecurity initiative was developed to ensure the safe integration of digital signalling within a freight operating environment, in alignment with the broader ETCS/ERTMS deployment strategy. The project addressed cybersecurity risks associated with on-board ETCS systems and their operational interfaces. As Project Manager, I supported the coordination and delivery of technical activities, working alongside engineering leads and the client's internal teams. My role included managing project status reporting, preparing technical input for proposals, and supporting financial tracking—particularly around invoicing and budget forecasting. I was also responsible for planning resource allocation, ensuring that technical workstreams remained aligned with project objectives and timelines. In addition, I maintained close communication with the Freightliner stakeholder group, ensuring that cybersecurity goals were clearly captured, risks were monitored, and project outputs remained focused on real-world operational needs. This role required a practical understanding of ETCS principles, project governance, and cross-functional delivery within a regulated rail environment.

Business Meeting

Rail Station Accessibility Audit
- DfT

Accessibility Auditor

The Department for Transport initiated a nationwide audit to evaluate the accessibility of railway stations across the UK, ensuring that facilities meet the standards required to support passengers with reduced mobility and other access needs. This high-profile initiative aimed to inform future accessibility improvements and investment strategies. In this project, I conducted on-site audits at a variety of stations, assessing infrastructure elements such as step-free access, signage, platform heights, tactile paving, and station approach routes. Using a digital survey tool, I recorded and submitted structured data, supported by photographic evidence and qualitative observations. In addition to carrying out audits independently, I supported the onboarding of new auditors—providing guidance on health and safety protocols, proper data collection techniques, and audit methodology. This role required a strong understanding of DfT accessibility criteria, attention to detail, and consistent communication with the central project coordination team to ensure audit coverage and quality assurance.

Signalling Infrastructure Condition Assessment (SICA) - London Overground

Consultant

As part of London Overground’s efforts to improve asset visibility and maintenance planning, a bespoke tool was developed to assess the condition of signalling infrastructure across its network. The objective was to digitise and standardise asset condition reporting, enabling more effective decision-making for renewals and operational safety. I contributed to the concept development, system design, and implementation of the Signalling Infrastructure Condition Assessment (SICA) tool. This involved identifying key assessment parameters, defining the tool’s functional requirements, and supporting interface development to ensure accurate data input and reporting. I worked closely with signalling engineers and asset managers to align the tool with operational expectations and ensure it captured the critical engineering and condition data needed for long-term asset strategies. The tool improved consistency in condition scoring and provided a structured framework for capturing technical asset information—supporting both short-term maintenance and long-term infrastructure planning across the Overground network.

 Maximo Implementation
- TfL 

Enterprise Asset Management Consultant

Transport for London (TfL) engaged Arcadis Gen to deliver an enhanced enterprise asset management solution to support safe, compliant, and efficient operations across their transport infrastructure. The project involved configuring IBM Maximo to meet TfL’s specific requirements for asset tracking, maintenance planning, and regulatory alignment. As part of the delivery team, I supported the design and configuration of Maximo workflows, user interfaces, and asset hierarchies to reflect TfL’s operational environment. My responsibilities included conducting requirement-gathering workshops, mapping business processes, and translating them into functional system specifications. I also played a key role in quality assurance—supporting unit, integration, and user acceptance testing. Using tools like Selenium and Postman, I contributed to the automation of test cases, improving accuracy and efficiency across the validation cycle. Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with stakeholders, agile development teams, and business users to ensure the solution was fit for purpose and aligned with TfL’s long-term asset management goals.
